Kim Jordan

March 12th, 2012 by admin

Prior to being named as CEO of New Belgium Brewing Company, Kim Jordan had held almost every other position imaginable in the Colorado-based company, including bottler, sales representative, distributer, marketer, and financial planner. As the wife of New Belgium Founder, Jeff Lebesch, Kim has been involved since day one, providing her with the experience and knowledge necessary to run such a quickly expanding business. Given the fact that New Belgium went from operating out of a basement to being the seventh-largest overall brewery in the United States in less than twenty years, we are excited to see what the future holds for this passionate business, and its equally passionate CEO.

From his background in computing and software to owning the Dallas Mavericks, Landmark Theaters and Magnolia Pictures, to publishing an e-book, Mark Cuban has built a brand spanning diverse industries and garnering strong advocates. As evidence, Cuban started his first company, MicroSolutions, with the support of customers he met as a salesperson for a previous employer. True to his brand of motivation and unconventional methods (referring to his NBA antics and associated fines) Cuban takes chances and consistently demonstrates his message – “If I can do it, you can do it.” He learns (or donates) from missteps and charges forward to the next undiscovered technology or business venture inspiring supporters that they can do the same.

From business ventures, to publishing, broadcasting and merchandising, Martha Stewart has built a brand recognized around the world. Stewart strategically founded Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, consolidating her brands into one company to help promote synergy and create focused direction for her business activities.  While serving five months in West Virginia’s Federal Prison in 2004 for lying to investigators, Stewart or “M. Diddy,” turned her ‘lemon of a sentence and made lemonade.’  The day of her release, Stewart launched a comeback campaign that grew her brand in new directions and returned her company to profitability within a year. Stewart proves the power behind championing a brand.

“Legendary investor, Warren Buffett” is the primary shareholder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and one of the most successful investors in the world. Despite his 2011 status as the world’s third wealthiest person, Buffett demonstrated his value investing and frugality by pledging to give away 99% of his fortune to philanthropic causes. Buffett’s brand transcends the success of lucrative investing; it encourages more wealthy individuals to give some of their fortune to charitable purposes.

About The List

A company's greatest asset is its brand. An individual’s greatest asset is character or image (a personal brand). But without a true Brand Champion leading the cause, brand success (for a company, product or person) can be elusive. The Brand Iron BC 100 list is comprised of individuals who truly understand and embrace the power of a brand (our Brand Chumps list is comprised of those who clearly don’t). Whether leaders of an organization or individuals managing their personal brand, they take responsibility for developing a brand that exudes success. Each month our staff will recognize a notable Brand Champion. Each year we will announce our BC 100 list. Whether you agree or disagree, we invite you to share your opinions. And feel free to nominate anyone you feel deserves to be part of the list.
